Every one of these came in matted, overgrown or shedding hard. Grooming is judged on the second photograph, so that is what leads this page rather than a paragraph about us.

Booking about three weeks out.Updated Saturday 25 July. If a slot opens from a cancellation it usually goes the same morning, so it is worth calling even when the book looks full.

Nails only, no appointment, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

What a groom costs

Priced on coat and condition, not on breed name. A matted small dog is more work than a clean big one, and the price follows the work.

Short and smooth coats. Beagles, boxers, staffies. Bath, nails, ears and a de-shed. $45 to $60 depending on size. Ninety minutes, in and out.

Double coats. Shepherds, huskies, goldens. Bath, full de-shed, blow out, nails and ears. $70 to $95. We do not shave a double coat, and any groomer who offers to should be asked why.

Curly and non shedding coats. Poodles, doodles, bichons. Full clip to whatever length you ask for, face, feet and sanitary. $80 to $120. Book these every six to eight weeks or the mats decide the length for you.

Drop coats and furnishings. Shih tzus, malteses, yorkies. Full groom with a face tidy. $65 to $85.

Add ons. Nail trim on its own $15. Nail grind $22. Teeth brushing $12. De-matting is charged at $18 per quarter hour and we will always call you before starting it rather than surprise you on the ticket.

Senior and anxious dogs. Same price as the coat above. What changes is the pace: shorter sittings, more breaks, and we will stop and call if a dog has had enough. Nobody is held down here.

A first visit, start to finish

Most of the nerves are about not knowing the shape of the appointment. This is the shape of it.

You call and describe the coatBreed if you know it, roughly how long since the last groom, and whether there is matting. That is enough to quote you and to book the right length of slot.
Drop off between 8 and 9Grooming is not an appointment you wait through. Dogs are done in the order that suits their temperament, and the anxious ones go first while the shop is quiet.
We call if anything changesIf the matting is worse than it sounded on the phone, or the nails are into the quick, you get a call and a new number before any of it happens.
Pick up early afternoonUsually between one and three. You will be told what the coat is doing, what to brush, and how long to leave it before the next one.

New dogs are always taken. There is no waiting list to get onto, only the three weeks to the next open slot, and cancellations move faster than that.
